Important Notice: 10-Digit Numbering and How It Affects You

December 17, 2008

Dear Ojo Customer,

Snap!VRS has some exciting news to share with you.

Starting January 1, 2009, you will be able to get a real phone number to use in any video calls. Just like your home or TTY number, your Ojo videophone will have a ten digit phone number that people can use to make or get calls from hearing people through Relay or deaf people from their video phones.

It's called "Local 10 digit numbering" and it will affect everyone with a videophone.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established rules effective December 31, 2008 to give video phones a new "Local" 10-digit number – just like a standard telephone. For example, instead of using your current Ojo number and IP address such as 92.368.453, it will be assigned a number with an area code, such as (215) 555- 5892. That is 10 digits, and it includes an area code so it's called "local" 10-digit numbering.

When the local number is registered with Snap!VRS, it will allow 911 service to automatically identify your location when you call through VRS, which is really important to keep you and your loved ones safe.

When you register with Snap!VRS for your new local 10-digit phone number, you will experience some additional benefits as well!

The most exciting new benefit is that as your friends with VPs get their 10-digit numbers you'll be able to call one another directly! No more needing to dial an IP address to call each other!

You'll also only have to give out 1 number for hearing people to contact you. This means that you will not have to give your friends and family a VRS 800 phone number any more. They'll only need to dial your new 10-digit number and the call will automatically be directed to you through Snap!VRS!

Shortly after the new year, Snap!VRS will contact you about registering with us for your new local 10-digit number.

We know you'll enjoy all of the new benefits that 10-digit numbering promises and we look forward to serving you in the New Year.

From all of us at Snap!VRS, we wish you and your family Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,
Sue Decker
